Trullo Elaia: how it was.
The vision, the project and the realization of a dream.

We are Elena and Francesco, two Tuscans who fell in love with the Itria Valley one summer six years ago, during a holiday.

It was not our first trip to Puglia, but for the first time we stayed in a trullo, remaining literally bewitched.

Enough to mature the idea of looking for one to renovate and to use to our buen retiro.

There is the discovery of a land that has given us emotions -those now forgotten of a simple life, slow rhythms, reassuring and full of atmosphere- the basis of our love for this land, the only one in the world to host these architectural wonders called "trulli".

This is how our search began, not without hesitations and fears, given the great distance between Pisa and Puglia, which certainly would have made the realization of what we had anticipated even more challenging. After visiting many trulli, without anyone had impressed us and convinced, now a little discouraged, we arrived here: we found ourselves in front of an abandoned ruin and partially said, but that enchanted us for the magnetic charm that could still emanate and for the particular beauty of the context in which it was inserted.

Every reserve immediately vanished; that ruin became the precious treasure chest of our dream and that dream became our project. So we started the long and complex but exciting task of its restoration, determined to bring to new life a magnificent architectural testimony of Puglia, preserving the original essence, without distorting the rustic and typically rural character.

The restoration lasted two years; we personally followed the works, taking care of every choice, up to the smallest of details and we are happy today to share with you the result of this journey.
