Elaia - Charming trullo in the Itria Valley

Trullo Elaia is a charming stone house, consisting of a single architectural unit, which winds between trulli (circular structures with characteristic cone roofs) and lamie (rectangular structures with barrel ceilings) that accommodates up to six adults.

Everything here is inspired by the desire to celebrate the uniqueness of the place and conceived to preserve its timeless authentic beauty. Without interferening, without interventions capable of altering the nature and the perfect balance with the surrounding rural environment.

Elaia is not and doesn't want to be a house that has only the shape of a trullo, but wants to give guests the magic of an accommodation that, despite the comfort and refinement of aesthetic choices, has been able to maintain its original flavor.

The restoration and expansion of the structure, as well as the subsequent choice of services and furnishings -from colors, fabrics, fittings- were carried it out with the intent to preserve that authentic harmony, not only aesthetic, that the owners have immediately perceived in front of what was once an abandoned ruin.

The result is an interior living space and a terrace that dialogues with the surrounding environment in perfect symbiosis; a full coherence between what you see, what you breathe and what you feel on the skin and heart.

Trullo Elaia has a beige concrete pavement, stone walls, partly left exposed, partly lime plastered and is divided into a sleeping area and a day department.

The sleeping area has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

In the trullo under the shade of the secular oak you'll find the master bedroom that has a French window in corten and glass that communicates directly with the outside. Antique walnut boat bed, pocket spring mattress with topper in memory foam for a regenerating rest.

The large en-suite bathroom is entirely made in stone and occupies an entire trullo, the smaller one; equipped with an incredible shower carved into a niche overlooking the olive grove, will transform your daily ritual into an experience to remember. It has a large washbasin with a unique microclimate bathtub and double vintage style brass taps, toilet and bidet. A designer towel warmer in the form of a ladder welcomes pure cotton towels.

The other two rooms are located in the lamie; the larger one has a double bed, the other a French bed (140 cm), pocket spring mattresses and memory foam top.

The second bathroom is finished in microcemento and is equipped with brass vintage style taps.

The living area includes a large stone living room, two alcoves also in stone and equipped with seating for relaxation and a kitchen and dining area (in a single large room) communicating through a large glass door that takes you to the beautiful outdoor patio, which enjoys a suggestive view of the pool and the park.

The kitchen has been made with exclusive design, with artisan mosaics and the masonry worktop; the sink is in Trani stone, bridge taps in brass vintage style, retro style refrigerator. Perfectly equipped with an induction hob, Smeg ventilated oven, dishwasher, Lavazza espresso machine, electric kettle, milk frother machine for delicious cappuccinos, planetary mixer, minipimer Kitchen-aid and a small electric mincer. You can cook whatever you want while observing the branches of the olive trees, from the large window located in front of the worktop.

The dishes and cutlery are perfectly matched to the context.

The dining area, all around a beautiful cherry wood oval table with six design chairs in polycarbonate; a large wall pantry with antique rustic wooden doors, a small corner cabinet and a recovered dresser with a yesterday “flavour” complete the furnishings of this area.

A large glass door takes you to the patio area where you'll find the outdoor dining area and lounge area.

Protagonists of the outdoor space, in addition to the beautiful vegetation which filters the sharp light of the South, the typical bare red earth that was deliberately not replaced by a green lawn that would of been completely out of context; for this reason, a local stone flooring was chosen for the 12.5 meters swimming pool that echoes the one of the trullo, able to enhance the colours and reflections of the water, which will feel soft on the skin and free of odours thanks to a modern system that guarantees salt purification, without the use of chlorine. To complete the outdoor scenery, a sinuous wrought iron pergola overlooking the pool and the surrounding countryside, lapped by white linen tents and huge rosemary plants.

Here, surrounded by tranquillity and caressed by the summer breezes, you can relax in the lounge area on the custom made large masonry sofa "dressed" by comfortable cushions, cooking, or enjoying the delicacies offered by the territory sitting comfortably at the inlaid wooden table and on the natural rattan chairs.

For your open air leisure we've got comfortable sun loungers (some padded, others ergonomic) garden umbrellas, wooden benches, a hammock, a swing with two suspended chairs, a bowling green under the shade of an oak tree.

TO KNOW:

Our bed linen is made of stonewashed cotton and linen; bath towels and pool towels are made of pure cotton.

Linen is changed weekly; on request and with a surcharge it's possible another midweek change.

In equipment in each room for all the time of the stay, a large jute bag with pool towels.

Bath products such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap are in glass dispensers and available in each bathroom: we care about our environment and this way the quantities will be enough for your entire stay and you won't have to worry about bringing anything from home!

Inside the trullo, in order not to create interference with the immersive experience that this stay is able to offer, we chose not to provide any tv: we are sure that you will not feel the need of it at all, while its presence would have impacted the harmony (not only aesthetic) that we wanted to preserve. For the same reason, the air conditioning is present in the two rooms located in the lamie. Here, even in summer, the climate is always pleasantly ventilated and the thick stone walls guarantee a pleasant temperature. The latest generation Dyson fan can also provide a purified air flow for freshening rooms.

We can also book for you other services, external to the structure, such as bike rental, excursions, food and wine experiences. You only have to ask!

Moving in the area:

The trullo Elaia is located in the heart of the Itria Valley, in the rolling hills of the Apulian countryside, ideal for a holiday of relaxation and variety.

Given the secluded and rural location, which guarantees maximum relaxation and maximum privacy, the use of the car is essential to reach the towns (Ceglie Messapica is 7 km and Martina Franca is 13 km). Both, in addition to deserve a visit to their historic centers, are full of shops and restaurants where you can enjoy the culinary specialties of Puglia.

Just 900 meters from the property one of the entrances to the Ciclovia dell'Acquedotto Pugliese, for your walking or cycling.

The sea can be reached in just 25 minutes by car: the Adriatic coast is 22 km, the Ionian 54 km.

With its strategic location, Trullo Elaia is a perfect base to visit the most beautiful villages and discover the most beautiful beaches of Puglia.

Ceglie Messapica (7 km), Ostuni - the white city- (15 km), Martina Franca (13 km)- small pearl of the Apulian Baroque-, Cisternino (14 km), Locorotondo (22 km), Alberobello (40 km), the village of trulli.

The Adriatic coast can be reached in just 20 minutes by car. You can choose between the natural pools of Torre Pozzelle (km 25), the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve (km 38), or the Ionian dunes of Campomarino (km 52) just to name a few... If you are a hiker, you love walking or cycling, just 900 meters from the house one of the entrances to the Ciclovia dell'Acquedotto Puglia.
